I have thick, heavy, just below shoulder length hair with a slight wave/kink to it. I'd love to have curly hair for a ball i'm going to, i'm with a curling iron %26amp; the curls just fall out after 5 minutes anyway %26amp; i don't want ringlets or fat barrel curls, but defined curls that won't skimp on length (i ain't no shirly temple!). a perm is out of the question (bcos i have used bleach in the past and apparently that's bad). any ideas how i can do this by myself or what i should ask the hair dresser to do?

just curl it with a 1 inch barrel iron, or hot rollers but both a perm or curling iron is going to shorten the length a little, a perm more so:)

I think it would be beautiful curled as well as strait. I have thick hair too but not too thick. Also if you have a round head it would be best to have it strait! And Vise Versa! Have fun with your ball!

U SHOULD DO THEM HOWEVER YOU WANT TO!!!

velcro rollers, tons and tons of hairspray, and sculpting creme! or take a shower at night using curling shampoo and conditioner, put curling gel, any curling products in your hair, then when you get in bed ((hair still wet)) scrunch it all behind your head, then sleep on it like that... that works for me, and i have the same kind of hair! or you could do what my cousin who has curly hair does... straighten it, then use 3 different types of curlers, tiny-small one, medium, then the big barrel... that looks great!

curl your hair normally but hair spray each strand of hair you curl. i did my hair like that for prom and i used a ton of bobby pins and even more hairspray. you need to use a lot and i mean A LOT of hairspray. it makes your hair feel hard but its definately worth it, especially if you plan on actually dancing.
