I lived someplace humid and had curly hair. Now I live someplace dry and have straight hair.
What is the "natural state" of my hair?
Is curly hair a result of humidity or is straight hair a result of dryness?
depends what climate you are in. moisture in the air causes the hydrogen bonds in hair to change/curl or frizz up.

The 'natural state' of hair is determined by genes. The environment does have a bit of influence on the state of hair as well, for example, in more humid climates hair is more likely to become curly while in drier climates it is more ikely to become straight, overall, however, the state/condition of hair shouldn't change too much as it is determined primarily by your specific DNA and no difference in climate can result in a change in DNA and this the 'natural state' of your hair. Perhaps the natural state of your hair is somewhere between straight and curly and the difference in climate brings out the 'side' that it has the greatest impact on
