Settle down Settle down girlie. It can be done but it take time and energy.

I first have several questions for you...

1) What type of curly hair do you have? Is you hair thick, course, fine, dry? Do you have ethnic curly hair African-America, Polynesian, Dominican, etc? That will tell me alot about you hair and what type of product to use.

2) Where do you live? Do you live in an area that is very humid during the day or night? Like back east or in the south? Is it very cold and dry? or is it hot with no humidity? Like the southwest? Because humidity will curl you hair in an instant

3)What type of activity will you be doing? Dancing, cheering, etc? Because if you remain active and sweat your hair will curl.

OK, now with that being said, I can advise you on a few things.

1) Products. Depending on your hair type you need to find the right hair products to lock out humidity and keep your hair straight as an arrrow. For great results I suggest you use products like Alterna, Paul Mitchell (super skinny), Redken ( Smooth), Matrix, products. They cost a bit more but will give you great results. Shampoo and Conditioner made for reducing volume and keeping the hair from frizzing. Then after wards put a leave in conditioner or silicon base frizz serum. This will keep you hair from frizzing and keep volume to a minimum. Then spray on an Iron protecting spray (matrix makes a good one) to protect you hair from the burns of an iron.

2) Iron. The type of iron is important to seal in moisture and keep hair healthy. 100% ceramic all the way. I can't stay that enough!!!! Chi is one of the greatest irons out there.

If you hair is REALLY course ( like ethnic hair) then buy an iron that the temp is at least 450F degrees. If you hair is Caucasian hair then 395F is fine.

3) There is an alternative to Ironing you hair and it's called hair rolling. Where you roll you wet hair and put it under a dryer. It's healthier for you hair then Hot Ironing, but can be difficult to do at first.

I wouldn't rule out chemical straighteners. Depending on your hair type it can actually help you from having you hair curl on you. The BEST WAY to have your hair straightened is using Ionic straightening process from the Japanese of course. This wonderful process is expensive but will keep you hair straight for 6-8 months. Like I said it's very costly, but Jheri Redding "One and Only" Makes a good one. And I have my friend do my hair because she is a hairstylist and she only charges me $100 to do it.

So good luck. Products and Iron.
