Curly Hair!! HELP!?

I have frizzy curly hair and it's the worst pain. It's big and frizzy. My mom of course thinks it's beautiful down. But I hate trying to keep it not HUGE. It's hard so I just pull it back and use a smooth down type product. Does anyone know any techniques that will help contain my mane? (ha-ha) It's okay when it's down and I would like to show my curls without it being a mess of frizz and volume.

Curly Hair!! HELP!?

- Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!

- To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blowdryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a microfiber hair turban (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).

-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Most shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent (aka sulfates). They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof.

- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. It will clean everything but super clingy silicones (read more about this at one of the websites) . Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse. Do not brush/comb your hair after this point (make sure you already have a part). It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair. Then let your hair air dry or use a blowdryer with a diffuser.

- Use a moisturizing conditioner, such as Aussie Moist Conditioner. The combo of products that I use daily is Garnier Fuctis Sleek and Shine Leave In Cream, Tressemme Clean Hold Gel, and Aussie Tizz No Frizz Gel, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites.

- Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least visit the websites. Naturally curly hair can be beautiful! Hope this helps!

Get you a smoothing product and let it air dry for curls, or you can flat iron for a smoother look.

Go to the salon and have layers cut in it. That will decrease the volume without sacrificing length. Then, use a de-frizz product. Dove makes a surprisingly good one called Intense Frizz Control and Redken has some really good products too. Almost every hair care line has frizz control products. Those are just the two I have found to be the best for me.

moose helps a lot .... put it on after your hair is almost dry and it will help keep the curl tamed ..... and for the frizz curly hair is allowed to have some frizz but if you don't want any then try a anti-frizz seirum( a spray is the easiest to use )

Curly Hair!! HELP!?

I have the same problem. It's really puffy all the time...anyways what I do is brush it out with a pick when I'm in the shower(I use to brush it with a normal brush and my hair looked like a frayed Q-tip) anyways I then put some anti-frizz stuff gel in it. I don't know if that helped.....

heres some help! as a stylist i get this question a lot! well first of all you need a good cut! you need texture as crazy as that sounds you do. after that you should find a salon that does redken chemistry systems. you will need a soft shot and a smooth shot. they raise the pH back to a natural level 6 for your hair! its like a deep conditioner and i highly recommend it for you!! then you should ask that stylist for the best products for you! i suggest curl amplifier from catwalk- their curls rock line! youll like this! and the most important thing- DONT TOUCH YOUR HAIR WHILE ITS DRYING! the more you touch the bigger it will be! well i hope this helps! let me know!

Whatever steps you take with your hair conditioner is very important so before you damage your hair with heat try some different conditioners and hair treatments and you will notice a difference with the manageability

Go to the website: Miss Jessie's haircare

Garnier Fruitis has a whole line of products for curls. I use their Curl and Shine shampoo, conditioner and then the the soft curl cream.

Curly Hair!! HELP!?

Honey... I'm an expert on this one... 37 years of dealing with curly hair and looking like Bozo the clown half the time.

Use mousse or spray gel (I personally use Tresseme curl spray (black pump spray bottle)

Apply the hair product while your hair is WET, not damp.

If you can, if at ALL possible...let it AIR DRY.

If you must use a dryer, use a ceramic dryer WITH A DIFFUSER.

But, no matter what, DO NOT MESS WITH IT ONCE IT HAS DRIED.

Don't fight the curls... the more you mess with your hair, the BIGGER it will get.

:-) Good luck!

This may sound odd, but get rid of your shampoo. Use a cheap conditioner instead, then rinse and condition with a mosturising conditioner after that. Use coconut oil (the edible kind) - your hair needs oil in it to tame the frizz. Wash your hair as infrequently as possible. Scalp oil is really good for your hair - when you have curls people don't think that your hair is greasy, they think you have some product in it, so let it go a few days, even a week or more (doesn't mean you can't shower the rest of the time though!)
