I have exactly the same problem, so I went to a salon and had it straightened (tempararily) with ceramic straightening iron.....the results were very good, so I asked the stylist what products had worked, and I brought those exact products as they had successfully kept my hair straight for 4 days without a touch up at home.

Your best course of action may be this as you wont waste money buying numerous products that may or may not work....you will have products that you know will work, it may just mean that you will have to ask the stylist for some tips on how to correctly use the iron for your hair.

Good luck.

p.s.....when it is straightened, I then use a anti static product at the end which I think is the main secret to keeping it straight for days.....no frizz and no fly aways.

if it's really curly you may not get it dead straight, but John Frieda Frizz-Ease is a wonder product for combating frizz.

EDIT

here's a link to it http://www.johnfrieda.com/products/produ...

This straightener will do that with out all the product.

It is the most amazing hair straightener I have ever tried.

Have you tried a salon quality straightening iron? I have one from a beauty supply shop. It's not a CHI but a generic. It was $70 i think. Then you can buy the CHI silk from a salon and put in your hair while it's wet. It's $20 but it last forever. Everyone's hair is different. Mine is less frizzy when I use less conditioner because it leaves it drier and easier to straighten. I blow dry mine as straight as possible with a round brush before using the iron. If they can get it straight at a salon then you can do it at home. But if there is a lot of humidity, when you go outside it can still frizz up.

The MOST important thing, is the hair straightener you are using! You need a very high quality one like GHD or Coriollis which have good quality plates and reach high temperatures, like around 220.

Many people freak out at the temperature and get scared their hair will get damaged, but it wont if you take precautions and don't misuse them.

I recommend a good hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Aveda Damage Remedy is pricey but works like magic but a good cheaper alternative is L'Oreal Elvive Mirror Shine in the pink bottle.

You want to rinse shampoo with hot water and rinse conditioner with cold cold water. Trust me this is the first step towards eliminating frizz.

Next step - styling. You want a serum (John Frieda Frizz Ease is the cult serum but L'Oreal Elvive serum is also lovely), a heat protection spray and if you can get hold of a good one, then a styling cream especially designed to straighten hair.

It's really important to actually blow dry your hair straight before you straighten it with irons as this is the step that eliminates the frizz and breaks out the curl as this is the point at which you remove the water from your hair. If you let your hair naturally dry, then the curls form as the water evaporates and you wont get the frizz and kinks out of it with just irons.

So start by sectioning your hair into top, middle and bottom sections and work serum first and then straightening cream through it. Spray all over with heat protector and from the bottom to the top, blow dry your hair straight with a round barrell brush with a ceramic/metal barrell. Make sure the brush is not a cheapo one as this could break your hair. If you can't find a good quality metal/ceramic one, opt for a natural bristle one. Make sure you have the concentrator nozzle on your dryer and have it on a hot temperture and high speed. Gently pull out the curls with the brush as you direct the heat downwards on the hair.

Next, apply a little more serum to the ends of your hair (carefull not to use too much or you'll get greasy) and working through 2cm sections at a time from the underneath to the top of your hair, straighten with irons. The secret to succes is to use one of those hair brushes that are the same shape as straighteners - you know the ones with bristles that face eachother where you clamp you hair between them? Run this brush from root to tip, with the iron following closely behind so the heat is directly on the part of hair being pulled taught by the brush. Run through once and then twice, leaving the iron on the very ends for a few seconds extra, and then third time only pull the brush through and keep that section of hair pulled taught from the bottom so that as the hair strands cool, they are "setting" in their straightest possible form.

For humid days or nights out, spray a little hairspray over the hair as it's cooling.

Another great tip is to wash and blow dry the night before and then do the straightening the next morning so every bit of moisture has left the hair. This is what will stop your hair frizzing in certain weather conditions

Good Luck and please let me know how it turns out!
